Live Review: PREMIERE: Rose Goldd releases a wavy fairytale in 'WAYS'
Straight off the back of her debut single 'Midnight' released earlier this year, new wave hip-hop artist ROSE GOLDD has returned with a fresh new single in 'WAYS'. All about staying on your path and not paying the haters any mind, Rose Goldd proves she's one to watch as she pairs her absolutely stunning voice with trap-leaning RnB that will have you hooked within seconds.
Like a wavy fairytale, Rose Goldd sings over twinkling keys and heavy atmospherics on 'WAYS'. Influenced by the likes of late-night hazy hip-hop artists such as PARTYNEXTDOOR or TRAVIS SCOTT but defined in her own unique way, Rose Goldd really shines bright on this single. A blissed out new wave tune, 'WAYS' is all about staying focussed and working hard, with Rose Goldd saying, “It’s hard to stay focused. You must stay on your road or you’ll miss an opportunity. You can’t listen to what people say!”
Since her career started at 16, Rose Goldd has continued to work in Brisbane with a close group of producers while still finding her sound, but she found she naturally gravitated towards themes of strength and confidence. Rose Goldd said of the evolution of her music, “I want my music to empower. I want my music to move. I want people to get lost in my songs when they play - to see the strength and power in the music.”
