Five sparkling gems on This That's 2018 lineup

Festival season is right around the corner, and frankly it's so close we can taste it. The weather's getting warmer, the days are getting longer and the hype is getting almost unbearable to live with. Luckily, Newcastle's THIS THAT festival is opening the floodgates with a lineup that is stacked with both local and international talent.

Having made headlines earlier this year with a booking, and then the dropping, of a band that will not be named, the festival is on its way to try and redeem themselves. And, with a diverse lineup overflowing with talent, they may have done just that. Here are five acts that you'd be stupid to miss at 2018's This That.

EBONY BOADU

Ebony Boadu's mixes are renowned in the local scene for being absolutely monstrous. She consistently gives rap music remixes that not only don't take away from a song's original appeal, but breathe entirely new life into them. She's confident and outspoken, and consistently cements her ability to get any party started.

LEX DELUXE

This That will be one hell of a homecoming for Lex Deluxe, who is originally from the Steel City. And she's given Newcastle much to be proud of - there are few people that create mixes that are so fresh and unique, yet so accessible like she does.

NINAJIRACHI

Purple Sneakers have been Ninajirachi stans for years now, and it takes one listen to her work to understand why. Everything she crafts is injected with a sort of magic and wonder that's hard to define, but instantly recognisable. Her understated production glitters from start to finish, and we can't wait for her to cast a spell upon us all at This That.

SAMSARUH

Samsaruh is an artist that comes along once in a blue moon, but one who you cherish deeply because they've got such a rare gift. Subtle and ethereal at times, unapologetic and defiant at others, Samsaruh has music for all moods. Her confidence is almost palpable, and you'll be sure to leave her This That set a changed - for the better - punter.
