PREMIERE: NYNE teams up with Tray Haggerty to go through the ‘Facts’

When she released ‘Bad Trip’, we knew NYNE was onto something good. Her ethereal pop vocals were so perfectly suited to the dark and deep trap-infused beat (courtesy of CHIEFS) she was singing above, and her self-assured lyricism had us on alert that this was an act to watch. Today, she’s doubled down on this with a brand new single which only further reaffirms the ‘Facts’ that NYNE is headed straight for the top.

Teaming up with Texas rapper TRAY HAGGERTY for a fiery guest verse and WAJU for production duties, ‘Facts’ is a fierce release from NYNE. It’s defiant, powerful and full of “I’m not taking your bullshit anymore” energy which we can’t get enough of. Of how the track first came together, NYNE said, “I was in the shower and I thought of the hook and it was that quick! I thought of the original melodies and the lyrics, quickly ran and put the basic vocals over a beat down and sent it to Waju, who I’d been working with on a bunch of other music. I asked what he thought and he rearranged the beat and we went from there. It doesn’t always happen like that but I think the faster the songwriting is the more natural the song is. If you have to force it it’s never going to come out as great.”

HAGGERTY‘s verse only further hones NYNE‘s trajectory in the new wave of urban/hip hop music with his auto-tuned voice serving as the ideal fit for NYNE‘s new single. Jumping on the track thanks to NYNE initially reaching out to a British rapper who took way too long returning the verse, and Haggerty returning his take in record time, NYNE said of the collaboration, “…Just the energy and his experiences and the city he’s in, kind of effects the energy he has on the track and I find that really interesting.”

Tipped to be releasing a whole lot more in the future, this is an exciting development from NYNE. Let’s hope there’s way more where this came from!
