Live Review: CXLOE's blistering 'Show You' is pop euphoria at its best

Sitting neatly at the crossroads between pop, alternative and indie, Sydney's CXLOE is solidifying her fast ascent to basically taking over the world with her infectious, honest approach to creating hard-hitting pop music. Her third single comes in the form of 'Show You' and it's a track that comes with a weight like no other.

She traveled to Los Angeles earlier in the year to work on a bunch of tracks, and 'Show You' is one that came to fruition.

The track opens with a kick-less rhythm, and you can straight away tell that this slow-burner is going to be worth sticking out from start to finish. She kicks off the verse with 'I saw in you a light that read, "Go," uh-huh, so I followed you, but your body read, "No," so I stop'. The verse explores wanting to express her want for someone, but being unsure of whether this person will reciprocate.

The pre-chorus & chorus follows the sentiment along, saying 'Can't read my vibe, are you gonna make your move? I can show you if you like'. Look, I've gotta say aside from it being a total bop, it's also just incredibly relatable and I feel like when she was writing this track, she took the thoughts straight from my mind. But that's something she's really come into her own as, and that's a songwriter who can articulate thoughts and feelings you may not have otherwise been able to.

The instrumental builds heavily into the pre-chorus in such a way that you expect a big drop into the chorus, but it delicately falls into an almost spoken-word couple of lines that really propel us into the chorus. And it's the chorus that ties this altogether.

It's pop euphoria at its best. The instrumentals work hard to match the tone of CXLOE's voice, something that I think is often missed in pop and I think that's one of the most satisfying elements of this track - the marriage of the two.

CXLOE's 'Show You' feels like a "break-out" track (if such a thing exists), and there's no doubt that this blistering single amongst her previous repertoire, will only continue to grow from here.
