Live Review: MUTO takes us through his favourite songs right now

3 July 2018 | 10:22 am | Emma Jones

Rising producer MUTO is on the precipice of levelling up and becoming one of the most formidable forces in the electronic scene this week. Having consistently delivered genre-bending, boundary pushing electronica that not only put the scene at large on notice but also pushed himself into constantly evolving with each release, MUTO's steady rise has been a thrilling one to witness. Now, with the imminent release of his best and most ambitious body of work yet in his Arcane EP, MUTO is set to once again push himself further into fresh territory.

Not one to simply follow in others footsteps, MUTO has opted to forge his own path completely, and with songs like 'Say Nothing' sitting on a casual 4.5 million plays on Spotify and his most recent single, 'Tessellating' rapidly racking up serious numbers as well, this is all the proof he needs that his own direction is where he needs to be heading as more and more fans from around the world fall head first into his world.

Before the release of Arcane, we wanted to get to know MUTO a little better, so we asked him about a few of his favourite songs that aren't quite as popular as they should be, so they're hidden in a way. Check it all out below, keep your eyes peeled for Arcane tomorrow and catch MUTO on tour around the country very, very soon!

Photay - 'No Sass'

One of my favourite producers at the moment. This track is extremely clever and he will always keep you guessing at what comes next.

Chrome Sparks - 'All Or Nothing' Ft. Angelica Bess

I love how this song gives you a bit of everything and slowly all elements come together. A master synth wizard.

Lapalux - 'Don’t Mean A Thing'

This guy's production skills are just skitz. Worth checking out his entire catalogue.

Christopher Port - 'Nobody Chose You'

Just a lovely melodic journey. Beautiful song.

UTO - 'That Itch'

There's just something about this song that gets me... real James Blake vibes.

Kenton Slash Demon - 'Syko'

Everything about this is just awesome. I never want it to end and I never ever get tired of listening to this. One of my absolute favs.

Dark Sky - 'Badd'

I'm obsessed with this chord progression. It takes you on a pretty epic adventure.

DJ Seinfeld - 'U'

Sad and happy at the same time. A lot of emotion in this track.

Jon Hopkins - 'Emerald Rush'

Speaks for itself. Absolutely ridiculous.

Max Cooper - 'Waves'

Crazy drum-work and overall production. Calm within chaos.

Arcane is out July 4 via OF LEISURE.
