Live Review: Give Anna Lunoe's slapper of a guest mix a spin at your next party

In case you haven't gathered yet, we're massive fans of ANNA LUNOE here at Purple Sneakers. Originally based in Sydney but now based in the US, Anna's career has been a real testament to the dedication and hard work she's put into multiple crafts. She's the ultimate slashie - DJ, producer and radio host are among her skillset.

She got her radio start with Sydney institution FBi Radio and since then has gone on to host her own dance special 'It's HYPERHOUSE' on Apple Radio's Beats 1 which showcased a new era in electronic music. She currently hosts 'Dance Chart' on Beats 1 counting down the best in electronic music.

Aside from her radio feats, she's a world-renowned producer and DJ.

She really broke into the EDM market back in 2012 with her EP Anna Lunoe & Friends which featured seminal Aussie acts Flume and Touch Sensitive. In 2014, she put out one of her biggest singles to date, 'Bass Drum Dealer', which Skrillex picked up for his Nest imprint.

She's since collaborated with artists like Totally Enormous Extinct DinosaursSleepy TomChris LakewordlifeWax MotifTreasure Fingers and more. She's adding to her list of collaborations with her latest single - 'Badass' with UK producer, Born Dirty.

Purple Sneakers editor Emma Jones said of the single:

“Walk in the club, feel badass/ Yeah look at me, I’m badass,” is the hook I didn’t know I needed so much until right now. Over a bouncy house beat, the energy is palpable as Born Dirty and Anna Lunoe hit the pedal to the metal, immediately launching into the infectious and upbeat song. Encapsulating the essence of what both artists think everyone should feel like when they rock up to the club, the song is complete with a bass-y breakdown and high-octane vocals to have you singing this over and over for days on end.

Of the single, Anna said that, “It just basically encapsulates how I want people to feel: free, bold, spirited and enjoying the hell out of every moment they have on this planet. To me, my favourite tracks are the ones with a sense of humour about them. Yes they are bangers, but its light hearted – and that’s what is behind this track. Having a moment thinking you’re the shit.”

I've got to say, as a woman in electronic music, I'm so inspired by Anna and her career. She was the first woman to mix for Ministry of Sound Australia, and made history as the first solo female DJ to perform at Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas' main stage. She continues to pioneer future house in a direction that blurs the boundaries between pop and electronic music and her sound continues to remain so distinguishable.

Ahead of her appearance at Splendour In The Grass this weekend, Anna put together an absolutely thumping guest mix for Purple Sneakers on FBi Radio.

The mix ranges from absolute slappers from Anti Up and Redlight to Anna's pop hit 'Blaze Of Glory' to Aussie club hits from SwickNina Las Vegas and heaps more. It's one to get the party started, and one to lose your mind to.
