Live Review: PREMIERE: Reija Lee shines bright on 'Love Nobody'

28 June 2018 | 11:00 am | Emma Jones

Reija Lee makes a statement with her new single, 'Love Nobody', and if the rest of her music sounds as good as this, 2018 is hers for the taking.

There's no denying REIJA LEE is a formidable creative force. Comprising of one half of the hugely successful EDM duo, KITA & REIJA LEE and with features on songs from the likes of Zeds Dead, Shockone, Paces, Metrik, and Fred V & Grafix, she knows her way around a big song and knows how to cut through the noise just enough to make her voice truly heard. With Kito & Reija Lee being signed to Diplo's Mad Decent back in 2013, the pair have gone onto see worldwide success, but now it's time for Lee to step out on her own, and she's doing it spectacularly with new single, 'Love Nobody'.

Following on from 2017's 'A Dark Machine', Reija Lee's new single is a shimmering slice of crisp and nostalgic retro-pop, but its complemented by Lee's clear knack of knowing how to make it modern and forward-thinking as well. Clearly influenced by her previous collaborators but also equally inspired by the likes of Kate Bush and Tears for Fears, 'Love Nobody' is a statement single of Lee announcing her arrival as a bonafide solo artist with a whole lot to give.

With huge electronic drums, arpeggiated synths and 80s-esque atmospherics, Lee's voice honestly sounds as fantastic as ever on 'Love Nobody', singing her emotive lyrics perfectly above the crashes, swirls and synths below her. Having hinted that there's more to come this year with the results of her solo work out later in 2018, if it sounds anywhere near as good as 'Love Nobody, this year is Lee's for the taking.
