The Goods are Sydney’s premier purveyors of late night energy with ‘Faster’

Sydney trio THE GOODS (consisting of BADMANDELA, ROSARIO and BLACK TREE) have been teasing towards the release of their debut EP, Make Your Move, for the better part of a year now. With the EP’s imminent arrival this Friday, the trio have shared the third taste of their much-awaited EP in the form of ‘Faster’

If previous singles ‘Make Your Move’ and ‘Glow’ saw The Goods leaning into late-night soul and old-school disco respectively, then with ‘Faster’ the trio take their cues from futuristic funk with some notes of low-slung house thrown into the stylish concoction.

A deep, hypnotically swirling groove lulls you into a slow intoxication before the chorus, oozing with a laidback confidence, explodes and takes over the rest of the track. A thick, sludgy bassline, neon-lit synth chords and a complex rhythm section of booming 808 kicks and snares, congas and shakers coagulate into a rhythm that builds from a slow-burn to a feverish climax off the back of its own internal energy.

With the three singles released from Make Your Move thus far, The Goods have distilled late night energy by traversing the genres of disco, soul, and futuristic funk with a stylishness and self-confidence that bodes well for an EP which should place them as the premier purveyors of mood and atmosphere amidst Sydney’s rising soul scene.

Make Your Move is out Friday, April 14th via Personal Best Records / Bastard Jazz – you can pre-order it here.

The Goods will be showcasing their Make Your Move EP in Sydney and Melbourne throughout June – find all the details below:
