Live Review: PREMIERE: LUI HILL is your new obsession with '5000 MILES'

Bon Iver meets trap is not exactly something you might expect to sound great, but trust me here for a second. Meet LUI HILL, a global citizen who's travelled the world and is now making absolutely stunning music and drawing on his own experiences. His debut single, '5000 MILES' is a sonic journey, much like those he has embarked on with his father throughout his teenage years, and transports you to another world. Utilising his breathtaking vocals and pairing it with modernised production, '5000 MILES' is the perfect first impression from a new artist, and one that has us immediately hooked. See, I told you it was good.

LUI HILL counts everyone from Stevie Wonder to Frank OceanGeorge Clinton to Childish Gambino as his influences, and this is immediately evident in '5000 MILES'. Harnessing a certain element of soul and character that is often left out of electronic music, he injects emotion and richness into his music. Paired with a cinematic video that only amplifies the drama of the song, it complements the song with it's striking imagery that once again takes you on a journey.

It's not often an artist emerges with a debut this refined and perfected, but it never once feels manufactured or fake. It feels entirely real, and the way it captivates you will stick with you. Having been discovered by the same man that discovered MILKY CHANCE, it's clear LUI HILL is getting ready for the world, and '5000 MILES' is an exciting first taste. We can't wait to see what's next!
