Let Kota Banks’ new track take you on ‘Holiday’

Sydney based songwriter and vocalist KOTA BANKS has been long overdue for a come up. She’s the freshest signing to Australian label NLV Records, a group of producers as passionate about pop and rap music as they are about club tunes. After releasing a handful of tracks a few years back and songwriting since then, she’s properly honed her craft and has emerged with a certified pop banger. With her new single ‘Holiday’, Kota Banks brings an energy and ease that’ll make you think she’s been running the game for years already.

Airy flutes, marimbas and percussive rhythms paint the picture of a summer fantasy as producer SWICK lends his tropical touch to the instrumental. Kota Banks’ delivery is filled with joy and feels effortless, with every line sounding like it’s been sung with a huge smile on her face.

The video, directed by Ella Carey, invites us to hang with Kota Banks and her friends taking a break at a strip motel; relaxing by the pool, snacking and pampering in their room, getting in a bit of a workout and partying in the sun. The getaway vibes are strong in this music vid, with a dreamy pastel drenched colour palette and plenty of kitschy neon lighting.

With lyrics that lay on the tropical imagery, an instrumental packed with forward thinking touches and a video that invites you into her circle, this track is an impressive reinvention for Kota Banks. It’s fun, addictive and completely fresh, delivering left of centre pop song with some real prowess in the songwriting and production. With such obvious talent and a strong team behind her, we can’t wait for her upcoming EP packed with more boundary pushing pop.

‘Holiday’ is now available on all streaming services via NLV Records.
