Live Review: Cookie Cutters team up with Moe for sexy new pop bop, 'Coca-Cola'

BASS DA PIMP and ADAM I, better known by their stage name COOKIE CUTTERS, first met while studying musical composition at Melbourne's Victorian College of the Arts. Since then, they've been working together on crafting their own unique DNA. With their second official release, 'Coca-Cola', they've done just that, producing a catchy pop/R&B song that has real hit potential.

For the vocals they've teamed up with MOE. The story of how these three came to meet is pretty interesting: Cookie Cutters found Moe outside a dark techno club one night in Caulfield South. They heard him singing and immediately picked up on his pop sensation voice. When asked about it, Moe told them, “Nobody even really knows that I sing […] I didn’t think I had a good voice.” They had some time with him in the studio, coming out with 'Coca-Cola,' which is going to be part of a four track EP coming out in 2018 called, Cookie Cutters Presents: Moe, and if this single is anything to go by it's going to be huge.

‘Coca-Cola’ definitely sounds like a hit. The production is seriously good, every intro and outro, build up and breakdown well-judged. As you can probably guess, 'Coca-Cola' is not Coca-Cola but a euphemism for something else – 'She goes down like Coca-Cola,' Moe sings. The lyrics unashamedly reference sexual themes. Never has Australian Pop/R&B boomed quite so loudly, and dare I say it, confidently. "Race car bed call me Kirk Van Houten / They be throwing money at me like I was a fountain,’ Moe sings at one point. Later he says: ‘You can come to my place / I can make you feel safe / Do it any way you want to." The character Moe plays is clearly not troubled by a crippling sense of modesty.
