Yes!Fest are bringing the best Aussie acts together in support of marriage equality

6 October 2017 | 3:47 pm | Jackson Langford

The most prevalent issue in Australian politics right now is that of this god-awful, f*cking heinous non-binding postal vote on whether same sex marriage should be legalised. Despite costing $122 million, subjecting the LGBTQI+ community to hateful 'No' campaigns and the incessant whinging of politicians about how their "freedom of speech is being threatened", the survey is just putting up so many roadblocks to something that is a) inevitable and b) the right thing to do.

But, what's done is done and unfortunately we have to cop it. However, as the campaign continues to drag on and subject people to vitriolic and downright nasty sentiment, some people out there have decided it doesn't have to all be like this, and have taken it upon themselves to make something good come from this. Yes!Fest aims to bring the best acts from across the country and have them band together for equality. Big names like Tkay Maidza, Touch Sensitive and Client Liaison will all be hitting up Spotless Stadium in Sydney on Sunday, 29 October for this brilliant cause. Not to mention, veteran acts like Killing Heidi, Megan Washington and JIMMY F*CKING BARNES are also taking the stage and rallying for a 'Yes' vote.

What's most important about this festival is that is a not-for-profit event. Yep, every artist, manager and organiser are doing this for free out of the goodness of their hearts. On top of that, any additional revenue the festival makes will be donated straight back into the Equality Campaign, so give the 'Yes' vote the boost it needs to let love win. The festival will be broadcasted nationally and livestreamed globally, so it's going to send a loud, proud and positive message of love - and most importantly, to #VoteYes!
