Live Review: PREMIERE: Summer's come early thanks to Erik Sing's 'Leave You Alone' feat. Isabella Fortuna

28 September 2017 | 10:10 am | Emma Jones

Summer has come early this year, and no - it's not just because of global warming. Rather, it's come early from the recent spike in summery, feel-good electronic jams that have made a comeback, and we're all about it. One particular track that's making us really shake off our winter blues and well and truly open up for summer is courtesy of Melbourne producer ERIK SING, in his brand new single, 'Leave You Alone'.

Featuring ISABELLA FORTUNA on vocals, 'Leave You Alone' is actually not the optimistic tune it might sound like on first listen. Instead, it's a song that explores the nature of a toxic relationship, with Sing saying, “It’s about being so attached to someone that it seems impossible to leave them alone, even when the relationship is over.” However, thanks to Sing's hypnotic synths, addictive bass and crisp beats, you're forgiven for dancing and swaying to this one all night long.

Fortuna offers up some absolutely beautifully vocals here, delivering a smokey, soulful performance. Considering the pair met at music festival where Fortuna was playing, and just two weeks later they were in the studio together for a couple of hours to make this track, the results are a match made in musical heaven, as Sing's Paces-influenced production perfectly complements Fortuna's Owl Eyes-inspired vocals. It's a triumphant collaboration between two exciting up-and-coming acts, and a perfect example how great good old electro pop can be.
