Melbourne duo SEAVERA have today unveiled their new single, ‘City’, marking the third single release off of their upcoming debut EP.

Melbourne duo SEAVERA have today unveiled their new single, ‘City’. This track marks the third single release off of their upcoming debut EP, so we are very excited to share this with our Purple Sneakers family.

Origninally meeting in Northern NSW many moons ago, Tori Zietsch and Daniel Pinkerton rekindled their musical magnetism over long distance collaboration prior to collectively residing in Victoria. In creating Seavera, this twosome demonstrated an aptitude for layering sonic textures with fusions of different instuments and genre tones.

'Caving' and 'Parallel and Repeat' were the first two magical cuts from their upcoming EP release, which swiftly burgeoned Seavera industry recognition and an organic fan-base.

In this latest offering, we see ‘City’ sculpt fervent emotional expression with luscious soundscapes inlaid with spacious percussion and intricate melodies. Mixed by Simon Lam (Kllo) and mastered by Andrei Eremin (Wafia, The Harpoons, Leisure Suite, Banoffee), we hear Tori Zietsch’s soaring vocal lines meld with Daniel Pinkerton’s complex layers of textured production as the song’s lyrics recall tales of being let down by a lover.

Split into measures of anger, blame and desperation, Tori pours feeling into the study of a relationship she had hoped would evolve to a higher level of understanding and respect, explaining, “I remember being made to feel as if I was just an object committed to a function versus an equal human being worthy of connection.” Explains Tori, The sad reality is that when it happened, I began to realise that the event was just one fragment in a string of experiences I’d had just like this.”

Reflecting on the production elements and processes, Dan also added, "We went through many different versions of this song, at first exploring the more explosive aspects of the lyrics with heavy drums and raging synth lines, but in the end conceding that a few simple guitar chords weighed heavier than thicker beds and complicated melodies."

Seavera will be playing their first festival showcase at BIGSOUND 2017 in anticipation of the release of their debut EP. You find all the event info HERE, and if you are partaking in the festivities, you’d be a fool to miss these guys!
