Live Review: Moonbase turns JNTHN STEIN on his head in new 'Master Control' remix

24 August 2017 | 7:24 am | Max Lewis

Sydney producer Moonbase continues a triumphant year with a dark and jazzy remix of JNTHN STEIN's new cut 'Master Control' ft BXRBER.

Off the back of his very own set at this year's Splendour in the Grass, Sydney producer MOONBASE (formerly known as Moonbase Commander) has released a remix of NYC producer JNTHN STEIN's new track 'Master Control' featuring BXRBER.

The remix turns the rock sound of the original on its head, opting instead for a dark hip-hop/trap atmosphere with heavy drops and synths morphing into a jazzy combination of the two. It retains the moody atmosphere of his earlier works like Orthodox EP from last year, yet represents an exciting new twist on his already perfect formula.

This remix continues a successful 12 months for Moonbase: He launched his Trench Records label, collaborated with Anderson Paak on 'It Don't Matter' and played shows worldwide at SXSW and throughout Europe. Just a month ago he dropped a free download reworks of choice hip-hop tunes called EDITS VOL.1.  With only four months to go it looks like Moonbase isn't done yet, and I'm sure I'm not wrong in assuming whatever it is, it's gonna be big!
