Live Review: Human Movement reach new heights with 'I Need' EP

23 August 2017 | 9:13 am | Molly McLaughlin

Human Movement jump back onto the scene with 'I Need' EP, an arresting, danceable release that continues to carve out a niche for the duo in the club scene.

Sydney's favourite techno sons, Human Movement, are back with a fresh new EP that dives even deeper into their signature contemporary house vibe. The title track, 'I Need', pulsates with energy, while 'Theo's Party' is a groovy slow burner.

While building on the hype of previous releases, the I Need EP is clearly the pair's most sophisticated work to date, resisting excess and predictability in favour of smart, clean production. These songs are designed for dancing and they deliver on all fronts, mixing genres and moods to keep things interesting, but maintaining the momentum throughout the two tunes. (Yes, they really can do it all.)

Since bursting onto the stage in 2015 when '5:00AM' from their Dancing Room EP was premiered on Anna Lunoe's Radio 1 show, things have only got bigger and better for Human Movement. The duo have played Splendour In The Grass, Groovin The Moo, Lost Paradise and Strawberry Fields, but are most notorious for the Human Movement Parties, which have so far expanded into three huge, sold out nights across some big Sydney venues. These parties have cemented Human Movement's loyal fan base, along with their reputation as the kings of the underground scene.

Next, Human Movement will be taking over the The Metro Theatre on September 9th. As their track 'Theo's Party' makes clear, "It's the crowd that makes the party," and this one is going to be big!
