Melbourne based electronic duo SAATSUMA revealed their latest single offering, ‘Stay’, in wake of their upcoming debut album.

Melbourne based electronic duo SAATSUMA revealed their latest single offering, ‘Stay’, in the lead up to their upcoming debut album.

Following on from the release of ‘Isolate’ earlier this year, ‘Stay’ is another step forward for the duo in concreting their signature sound, and further earns themselves recognition from local and international tastemakers alike.

Written and produced by Memphis Kelly and Cesar Rodrigues, ‘Stay’ explores the irrationality of yearning and desire, and the consequential process of losing one’s self in a battle to obtain the unattainable.

This track emanates a mass of endearing and conflicting vibes, ultimately fuelled by a strata of complex, slow-burning instrument textures and heavily processed vocals. The warpy, electronic soundscape radiates both warm and desolate colours, assembling a sonic palette of semi-human, post apocalyptic ambiences.

2017 has already seen Saatsuma perform at St Kilda Festival, The Hills Are Alive and a support slot for Pnau. On stage, Kelly and Rodrigues are also joined by Maddy Kelly, Lachlan Stuckey and Andrew Congues to properly assimilate their music live and ensure no sound is left behind.

Saatsuma will showcase their live show for The Push New Slang in July, in addition to curating an event at SPURS that will include an exclusive first listen of their debut album.

If you’re in Melbourne, check out the show dates below! Otherwise, their debut album will be released in August.

Fri 7 July – The Channel Arts Centre - Melbourne

Sun 9 July – Spurs Gallery - Melbourne
