Live Review: Makaw leaves you breathless with her gentle new single, 'This Is Our City'
We only received a small taste of her infinite talent and now she has returned with yet another gentle track of electronica, entitled ‘This Is Our City’.
The wondrous, talented songstress and musician, MAKAW first slid onto our radar last year with her debut single ‘Tell Me Why’. The track flooded every part of our body with emotions with its incredible lyrical illustrations that left shivers running through spines, watering eyes and pondering minds. It was but a small taste of her infinite talent and now she has returned with yet another gentle track of electronica, entitled ‘This Is Our City’.
Now in comparison to ‘Tell Me Why’ there is a definite growth, the new track being more upbeat and synth based. You'll find less layered instrumentals, which allows the vocals and beautiful lyrics to become the focal point. Makaw prides herself on her story telling ability and is an artist that openly expresses her emotions throughout her artistry. In toning down the layers and upping the anti in terms of vocal focus, she allows her story telling ability to shine through like little specks of dust illuminated by sun rays.
A super catchy synth line draws you in within the first listen. Its vibrating effect showcases her angelic vocals that easily transition from verse to chorus and develops a new found confidence. She has captured her own sound, keeping the line of electronica light and airy but enabling a more dance driven back-beat to develop something that could have you dancing around your living room or could spark waterworks; Makaw leaves it up to you to interpret the track

There’s one thing we do know; you may not be able to anticipate or even pin point the reaction you’ll be left with but ‘This Is Our City’ creates a reaction nonetheless. This is the beauty of the track, its ability to spark emotion; to question; to relate. It’s an art form within itself and we want more with every listen.
