PREMIERE: Belove set the bar high with their new video for ‘Hey Girl’
Melbourne based trio BELOVE do things a little differently. Cherry picking elements from hip hop, soul, electro and RnB, they combine these to make a sound entirely their own, and their latest release,’Hey Girl’ was a shining example of this. Now, doubling down on the goodness that is ‘Hey Girl,’ they’ve released a brand new video to accompany it – and you can watch it first right here.
Chill is an understatement for this track, but don’t let that fool you into thinking it won’t have you firmly in its grasp the whole time. With smokey vocals, hazy atmospherics, a piercing guitar and subtle percussion like hand claps and muffled thuds, this version of forward thinking electro-RnB has us hooked. The visuals only amplify this, with stunning scenes of the band playing on a Melbourne city roof paired with snippets of the highs and lows of a relationship.
Beautifully shot, the trio teamed up with HOODWOLF (who has previously worked with IVAN OOZE and DYLAN JOEL) to capture the intimate nature of their new song. With a five-track EP on the way, ‘Hey Girl’ serves as the perfect introduction to Belove, and has us thirsty for more.
Catch Belove live on June 2nd at Bar Open, Fitzroy Melbourne.
