Live Review: Sean Heathcliff wants you to journey through his fave tunes right now

30 March 2017 | 7:45 am | Jackson Langford

SEAN HEATHCLIFF had a meteoric rise to fame with darling SNAKADAKTAL, and kept the momentum flowing working under the moniker KAGU, but - dare we say it - his solo efforts under his own name might be the most impressive thing he has done yet.

With his remarkable knack for tapping into subtleties within his music that reach new levels of ethereality and bliss, Sean Heathcliff is making sure that this new era for him, musically, is one that soars above the rest. With his delicate vocals, deep understanding of the complexities of sound as well as showcasing every layer perfectly, Sean Heathcliff is 100% someone you need to keep your eye on.

Naturally, someone who is such a fantastic music maker is an equally good tastemaker, and Sean Heathcliff has gifted us with a monstrous playlist that's packed with tunes that'll have you entranced, with a few bops peppered throughout too.

Sean Nicholas Savage – She Looks Like You

I saw a gig of Sean’s in Brighton England either in 2012 or 2013 with all the Snaka kids. It was such an amazing and attention grabbing performance.

Margaret Glaspy – Emotions and Math

Her voice. Shit. I love her voice.

Feist - Pleasure

Feist has to one the best songwriters of the last 15 years. Can’t wait for the new album.

Torres - New Skin

I first heard this track on NPR tiny desk performance. Think half of the views on that video are mine alone.

Car Seat Headrest – Drunk Drivers/Killer Whales

My brother showed me this. This guy is 24 or 25 and has released 12 albums or something. It’s all just silly. One of the best tracks of last year in my opinion.

Great Outdoors - On Repeat

Really liking this track. On repeat.

Joel & Tyler - Signs Again

Two close mates made this track. It’s just a really beautifully made song.

Ben Wright Smith – Sand Grabber

This is a cool song. He’s just released a new album. Check it out.

Cornelius – Tone Twilight Zone

An old sound guy Matt Dufty used to play this track in every sound check. Now I put it in every playlist.

Ryu Fukui - Early Summer

Ryu would have to be my favourite musician to listen to at the moment.

Sean Heathcliff's A Boy And His Rose EP is out now via Liberation Music. Listen or purchase here.
