Live Review: Let Chymes elevate you with their latest ethereal track 'Bloom'

24 March 2017 | 11:46 am | Natalie Turner

The wind that carries CHYMES gentle production through our airwaves has once again blown a stunning track our way with their latest track entitled ‘Bloom’.

Whimsical, delicate and ethereal, Sydney duo CHYMES embody the inanimate object they so beautifully named themselves after, and now the wind that carries Chymes' gentle production through our airwaves has once again blown a stunning track our way, entitled ‘Bloom’.

Cameron Taylor and Kiersten Nyman met whilst working on other projects together and instantly bonded over similar music interests, and a love for a particularly gentle and intimate production style. Safe to say it was a match made in heaven with their debut EP, Grow, gaining number 27 on the Top 50 Global Viral Charts on Spotify and their debut single ‘Oracle’ instantly gaining a spot on triple J’s unearthed rotation.

The electro-pop pair are an unstoppable force. They're a whirlwind of flirtatious production and modernised pop but, above all else, the duo pride themselves on the level of intimacy they create with each release. Making yourself vulnerable as an artist is an extremely difficult notion but one that gains a level of appreciation and respect from listener. Chymes not only do this with ease but with pure delight, creating a gateway for listeners to share in their state of openness.

‘Bloom’ is yet another example of their vulnerability, showcasing their breathtaking production as an artistic duo. The track is a perfect embodiment of how two different artistic directions can come together to create something that’s meant to coincide, a unison of fate.

‘Bloom’ is gentle but like a playful child, entices you to dance, run, hide, filling you with a sense of youth and innocence. The production is as pristine and as perfect as ever and broadcasts what feels like a personal message of self-strength. It's a story of self exploration, a guide to help those who put every ounce of energy and emotion into helping a loved one, only for them to hold you back. The yields and pauses of dark, brooding synths paint this picture perfectly and really develops, not only their maturity as artists, but also becomes a symbol of courage.

‘Bloom’ is an insight into Chymes sophomore EP that’s soon to drop later this year. After the hype of their previous works and the enticing overtone of ‘Bloom’, it’s at the top of our watch list… and it should be on yours, have a listen.
