sir Was cops an allstar remix ahead of the release of his debut album
In celebration of the announcement of SIR WAS’ upcoming album, Swedish electronica outfit LITTLE DRAGON have taken to his recent track ‘In the Midst’ and given it their signature spin. The sir Was version was already so soulful and soothing, but Little Dragon have managed to add things to his track that bring it to a whole new level.
Gamey synths and extra modulation gives this track a brand new feel. It brings the works of sir Was to a crowd he is yet to reach. The soulful Swede’s smooth vocals and groovy bass fills are maximised with layers upon layers of added sound trinkets that have made Little Dragon famous in the past.
Deep house/trap vibes bring the song into this new realm they’ve found for sir Was, but their genius really lays in the held back choruses, and the sweeping synths that build the tracks intensity into its final climax. In classic experimental Little Dragon fashion, they’ve made piercing samples and awkward synths sound easy to the ear. They have made something experimental, pleasurable and not to mention original.
Fresh, new, weird beauty is something that we see more and more from northern European artists. Their views of the world bring forward a whole new genre of fusion music, thus increasing the excitement around sir Was’ new release.
The album is entitled Digging A Tunnel, and if ‘In The Midst’ is anything to go by, the Swedish artist is cooking up something seriously beautiful.
