Live Review: James Crooks wants you to know he's 'Not Going Away'

Sydney producer James Crooks has teamed up with Melbourne artist Kate Martin to mark his signing to Liberation with a brand new single.

Sydney producer JAMES CROOKS delivers a shining gem in the form of his latest single, 'Not Going Away'. Having recently been signed to Liberation Music, he's been busy in the studio polishing his sound, and now he's ready to share it with us all. Teaming up with KATE MARTIN for this latest release to help co-write and even feature her delicate pop vocals on the track, Crooks has truly arrived in style with this single.

Originally we organised to record a topline together, however once the session was done, I showed her a different track which she immediately connected with. Something clicked between us creatively and ‘Not Going Away’ was born. I remember us laughing at how organic everything was!” Crooks commented about working with Martin.

'Not Going Away' is the type of song that unveils all its layers after a few listens. Whilst initially pop in flavour, there are some really interesting accoustic elements of percussion along with some majorly dancey NEW NAVY style guitar flourishes. Kate Martin's vocal directs the flow of the track and marries perfectly with the percussive clapping and synths.

This song couldn't have felt more like a metaphor for his budding career, as an independent artist it's always hard to find that break and keep doing what you love. It's exciting to see that James Crooks is releasing through Liberation, we're looking forward to what's next for him.
