Anna of the North have us booking flights to ‘Oslo’
ANNA OF THE NORTH have created a visually mystifying music video for their track ‘Oslo’. Down from the namesake to the landscape, both the song and the music video are an absolute tribute to the Norwegian capital city. A Scandinavian native, Anna Lotterud met producer Brady Daniell-Smith while studying in Melbourne. And from this, the electronic duo was born.
Written about the city, but from afar, Brady Daniell-Smith created the song purely from the memories and longings of homesick Norwegians, making ‘Oslo’ a tribute to the city. Yet the addition of Anna Lotterud’s vocals localises the song, making it a more personal postcard to her motherland.
Perturbed searching or mindless wandering? Anna meanders euphorically through the Scandinavian landscape, but her expression is thoughtful and intent. The music video is simple, but enthralling.
Light leaks through the tree cover, leaving a finish that sparkles through the greyness, and a similar effect evolves throughout the song. The unforced laxity of the vocals creates a gentle lull, but the instrumental pushes a subtle but certainly present intensity. Anna of the North‘s ‘Oslo’ has us booking one way tickets to Norway.
