Live Review: Vibe with Lou Phelps' latest track 'Average'

30 January 2017 | 9:34 pm | Ben Xerri

Lou Phelps has dropped 'Average', the banging first peak and single off his upcoming project 001: Experiments.

THE CELESTICS ARE BACK!... sort of. For those who aren’t familiar with one of the finest brother acts of modern hip-hop, The Celestics are a collaborative act between beat-maker/hip-hop god (and rare rapper) KAYTRANADA and his younger brother/rapper LOU PHELPS.

‘Average’ is the first single from Lou’s debut upcoming solo project 001:Experiments. The track features the beat-making prowess of Kaytranada as well as the smooth vocals of fellow Montréal artist, KALLITECHNIS.

The released projects of The Celestics proved that Lou had some serious potential and ‘Average’ cements that he is truly on par with any other rapper in 2017. Having Kaytranada as a brother sure helps when putting together a track, but Lou has really come into his own as an artist. His rhymes are tight, his lyrics are smart and witty and his flow has improved immensely from previous works.

HW&W Recordings keeps producing and pumping out great artists and even better tracks. With Lou Phelps cementing himself firmly in the roster alongside Kaytranada, TA-KU and Purple Sneakers Artist To Watch REVA DEVITO among many more, we can’t wait to see what’s next.

Keep an eye out for 001: Experiments in 2017.
