Live Review: B.Miles is 'Running' for the top with this new bop

19 January 2017 | 2:54 pm | Jackson Langford

LA-based artist, B.MILES, describes herself as a "dark energiser bunny confused with its place in the world" according to her Facebook bio. Her newest effort, 'Running', almost reflects that perfectly. While it is certainly a pop song with a dark, ominous undertone, and while it is certainly packed with energy and movement where it counts, B.Miles sounds anything but confused. In fact, if she is confused about where she's headed in life then let me fix that for her - with tunes like this, she's headed straight for the top.

With an interesting, infectious voice that is reminiscent of both Nicole Millar and Sporty Spice - what a combo - B.Miles shows no sign of confusion or hesitation in her monstrous vocal delivery. The larger-than-life track, produced by Noise Club, is packed with stabbing synths and sharp guitar strums laced with some slap bass which is essentially a guarantee that your tune is going to be a hit.

The lyrical content, however, is where B.Miles exposes her vulnerability. Co-written by herself and Eric Nizgretsky, who has been a long time collaborator since B.Miles' debut back in 2015, she divulges her desire - "I want you to see me, to need me." That honesty juxtaposed with the strength in which B.Miles delivers it is endearing and proves to us that she's not afraid to tell us what she wants and, in fact, she's not afraid to show us that she's going to get it.
