Artists to Watch in 2017: Midas.Gold

midasgold2

Midas.Gold is a burst onto the rap scene in late 2015, and he has already made a huge impact this year with the release of his debut EP and touring around Australia with Tkay Maidza. Midas.Gold shows a lot of promise with music that has the mainstream appeal to become a hit with the masses, and is without a doubt an artist to watch in 2017.

Starting off the year with a video for his track ‘000000’ and following it up with videos for his track ‘$$$’ and ‘Work.It.Out’, Midas.Gold quickly built up a reputation for making catchy songs with raps that are rare to hear in Australia. Infusing the style of melodic rap that is common in the southern United States like with artist such as Travis Scott and Future along with lyrics that could be taken on face value about making large financial gains, but on multiple listens reveal a truth about his deep strive for greatness in himself, Midas.Gold has his own way of rapping that many Australian acts haven’t tried. Hitting number 11 on this years most played artists on Triple J Unearthed shows he’s doing something right.

Out of the studio, Midas.Gold played Listen Out, toured with Ivan Ooze and Tkay Maidza, supported Danny Brown and The Underachievers and even embarked on his own national tour. Showing now signs of slowing down, he’s back at it again this year with another east coast tour to celebrate his debut EP, For What It’$ Worth, wasting no time getting everyone hooked onto his catchy vocal delivery and infectious beats.

Still new to the game, Midas.Gold brings a lot to the table and with his EP out he’s showing that he’s hungry to move upward in the world of music and we hope to track his climb to the top. From getting props and prizes from Triple J Unearthed to wherever the next year takes him, just know Midas.Gold will bring his energy into every work he does.
