On his newly released EP SPAGHETTO out now on Warp, London based artist GAIKA has put out a video directed by Father for his track 'Glad We Found It' - a track with mixed influences of RnB, soul, electro and trap that creates a sound like you haven't heard before.

The vocal delivery is quite breathy and reserved, with heavy use of of repetition being used throughout the song. The intro and chorus are comprised of repeated sentences, while the verses and refrains are kept short, putting more emphasis on how catchy the song is. The blend of Gaika and the atmospheric trap-esque production creates a laid back mood that will get stuck in your head.

The production is trap influenced with repeating hi hats and heavy bass drums, but the track has an atmospheric quality to it that comes out of the looming synths to fill out the beat like smoke in a room, giving it a haunting feel.

The video itself is visually interesting with the unusual colours that bleed into each shot, emphasising a weird and isolate place that almost holds Gaika and the three women hostage. Director Father says:

"...When he reached out to get involved in the project I was instantly intrigued, the track presented an opportunity to operate outside the traditional confines of a "rap" music video - providing a lot of wiggle room for the treatment. GAIKA isn't your conventional rap/urban artist, he actively challenges the status quo; I wanted the visual to mirror that."

Gaika's latest release deals with themes of love, and 'Glad We Found It' keeps that theme and brings it front and centre. This is a strong indication of the quality you'd expect on his EP and hopefully he puts out more soon.
