Sydney party crew OWT. give us their top festival survival tips

12 December 2016 | 5:56 pm | Staff Writer

The festive season is well and truly upon us now, and as the weather starts to heat up, we all know that a bit of craziness in our shenanigans over the summer is a given - especially when festivals are in the mix as well. However, it's a long slog, and you've gotta pace yourself to make it through the other side. So, to help you out, we asked some professionals.

Party crew OWT. are naturals when it comes to pushing through, and have pulled out all the stops to throw an absolutely killer Xmas Eve Rooftop Party this year. Would you rather spend the night with your second cousin's loud kids, or Kings Cross Hotel with some of Sydney's best selectors throwing it down on the d-floor? We chose the latter too.

To get us in the partying mood, we asked OWT. to give us a few key survival tips for the festival season. Check it out below, and head along to their Xmas Eve Rooftop Party this Christmas Eve!

We’ve got a bunch of tips to help you get the most out of the upcoming summer festival season. Apart from the obvious ones: memorise the set times to ensure you don’t miss your favourite acts, bring a generator tradio (tradie radio) so you don’t have to go without music, and make friends with your campsite neighbours to pool your resources, we’ve got three main tips to help you spend less time worrying about the campsite and more time enjoying the summer:

1. Garbage bags aren’t just for holding rubbish

Garbage bags are your best friends when it comes to ensuring your campsite doesn’t turn into the local tip, but that’s not all they’re good for. These gems can be made into the perfect emergency poncho if it happens to rain one night. Rip some holes for your arms and head, problem solved.

2. Why buy food? Introducing red frogs…

Don’t buy your food – save money and live off the endless supply of red frogs. If garbage bags are your best friends, the Red Frogs crew are like your grandma who’ll love you no matter what b̶a̶d̶ genius decisions you make at the festival. They've got free water, enough red frogs to feed the world, and are always up for a drunken chat when you lose your friends...

3. Don’t buy sunscreen

To ensure you’ve got plenty of cash to spend at the bar, save money and don’t bring your own sunscreen. Instead, mitigate the effects of sun exposure by rubbing up against fellow festy-goers who have already applied their own. You won’t get burnt and you’ll make plenty of new friends. How good.
