Live Review: Gabriel Garzón-Montano plays 'The Game'

12 December 2016 | 12:42 pm | Abbey Lenton

Everybody can play 'The Game', but no one can do it as soulfully as Gabriel Garzón-Montano can. 'The Game' is our second taste of the Jardín album.

GABRIEL GARZÓN-MONTANO has shared his latest single 'The Game'. The singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, hailing from Brooklyn, offers up cruisy soul with a touch of crunch.

Following on from his previous release, 'Sour Mango', a track of epic instrumentation and juicy beats, 'The Game' is a more stripped-back but just as catchy effort. Keeping up with the fruit theme, the hook will have you humming, "Have a heart like a tangerine," for reasons you'll be not too sure of.

The track has a finger-snappin' beat that catches you from the get-go. The lyrics launch from the very first start, the vocals toy with an RnB melody whilst remaining undoubtedly in rap form. Loops and layers keep everything feeling lavish and warm as the crisp percussion assures the song keeps its chill. An absolute delight to listen to, everybody can play 'The Game', but no one can do it as soulfully as Gabriel Garzón-Montano can.
