Live Review: Commandeur speaks his mind on fresh new track with YEO

COMMANDEUR and YEO: two names you should be extremely familiar with if you’re into foot-tapping, genre-pushing electronica. The pair have teamed up on Commandeur's latest effort entitled, ‘Speak Your Mind’ and it’s nothing short of a chillaxed-banger.

Drummer/producer/DJ, is there anything Commandeur can’t do? The question is easily answered after his extensive list of accomplishments is recognised not only by us but artists such as Panama, KLP and our gal Tkay Maidza from which he has been hand picked as the live drummer for their shows. The all rounded talent has been commended for his gentle production style that swiftly transforms from a light sway to a head-bang in seconds.

The Melbourne multi-instrumentalist YEO is also no stranger to success, having featured on Hermitude's #1 ARIA hit ‘Searchlight’, and just recently wrapped up a huge national tour which included some sell out dates.

So with the endless amount of talent that follows these two, its no wonder ‘Speak Your Mind’ is speaking to us on a spiritual level.

The track starts off comfortable and spacious, with gentle samples and YEO’s smooth vocals, all before breaking into a light boogie backbeat in the chorus. It’s a beautiful combination of light electronic and perfectly paced alternative synths that would appease any lover of a good old fashioned beach-rave. Commandeur's slow building samples and subtle female vocal repetition over YEO's prepares you for a relaxing and well-deserved time-out. The chosen soundscape showcases Commandeur's elegant production style, which is matched perfectly with YEO’s vocal talent. Take a few, and listen to Commandeur and YEO speak their mind.
