31 December 2016 | 8:02 am | Ben Xerri

Portland songstress Reva DeVito has cemented herself and her hip-hop inspired soul music as a figure to keep your eye on in 2017.

With an impressive collaboration catalogue of KAYTRANADA, Com Truise and B. Bravo amongst others, REVA DEVITO has been churning out elegant hip-hop inspired soul music, epitomised through her late 2016 six-track project; The Move. Off the back of this debut EP, the Portland-based artist will, without a doubt, capture the attention and hearts of the masses in 2017.

Signed to HW&W Records, home to a mass of incredibly gifted and innovative electronic musicians including Ta-ku and Pomo, Reva DeVito has only released a small handful of tracks including that in her debut EP. Despite her limited discography, she has amassed impressive listening figures online with a niche keen to hear what’s next.

A noticeable highlight of The Move is the title track featuring the instrumental prowess of fellow HW&W artist KAYTRANADA. Reva’s silvery soulful voice floats across and weaves around some of the producer's best beat work.

Reva made her directorial debut for the music video of ‘Deeper’, produced by Birthday Boy. The track establishes the emotive and expressive aspects of DeVito’s voice with a bare-bones instrumental track to cement the focus on the isolated vocals.

With the release of The Move, Reva DeVito has paved a way for her soulful music to be in the well deserved spotlight of musical progression throughout 2017.
