Live Review: Corin curated a playlist of producers who are breaking the mould

9 November 2016 | 12:16 pm | Lauren Payne

You've never heard great industrial production unless you've heard Corin's music.

You've never heard great industrial production, unless you've heard CORIN's music. Her pieces are enveloped with harsh synths and edgy samples that bring to life a world that we can only imagine.

Trained in classical piano, the producer is well equipped with hands that generate brilliant melodies, but she has brought electronic music to a whole new level and knows a few other producers that are doing the same.

We asked Corin to create a little Soundcloud playlist of some local producers that she thinks are breaking down boundaries and aren't afraid of turning electronic production on its head.

Fia Fiell 'A Hair A Heap'

"I’ve been able to watch Carolyn live quite a few times. I am always blown away by her live setup that includes multiple synths, processed in real time. I think the textures and harmonic soundscapes she creates are hauntingly ethereal and other-worldly."

Hyde ‘Ox Hill’

"This track is off a forthcoming release, also titled ‘Ox Hill’. Since moving to Melbourne earlier this year, I’ve been lucky enough to live in the room next to him and hear some of his unreleased material (mostly through the walls but still very grateful)."

Nico Niquo ‘Global Village’

"Global Village is from a compilation by Noumenal Loom. I like the way Nico always finds a way to pair seemingly incongruous elements like footwork and minimal ambiance in unique ways."

Ptwiggs ‘Stress’

"I found Ptwiggs’ music off a secret (and very exclusive) forum on Facebook called Internet Junk. I really like the mash-up of industrial sounds and mutated vocals on this track."

Jikuroux ‘Doubt’

"This track is off Body Promise’s new compilation, which showcases some really great club based music from Sydney. I like the swelling ambiance in the first half of the track."

Corin is set to play at the Official Closing Party of Melbourne Music Week, presented by Good Manners.
