Live Review: Yon Yonson release 'Berlin' re-work from Simo Soo

22 November 2016 | 10:18 am | Natalie Turner

The Sydney artists have returned once again with a sample driven, roller coaster of a track entitled ‘Berlin’.

Yon Yonson, the eccentric trio from Western Sydney have been holding the foundation, and quite frankly building, the towering genre of indie pop since 2010, and all from the comfort of their own abodes.

Although the trio have been featured on Fuse TV's Top 10 Australian Artists to watch in 2014, and have been selected as FBi Radio and Time Out Magazines Artist of the Month, these talents are renowned for making music for pure enjoyment, with the accomplishments just being an added bonus.

And now after their long musical journey, the Sydney artists have returned once again with a sample driven, roller coaster of a track entitled ‘Berlin’. The track has been remixed by fellow state-mate and hip-hop lad Simo Soo who adds a dominant flare to the re-work.

The combination of the two artists creates a genre-hopping track filled with dips and weaves of unsuspecting samples and vocals. Simo Soo has transformed the original softness of the track into an exhilarating, energy filled soundscape. With clashing synths and a quick ascent of repetitive industrial claps, ‘Berlin’ becomes a completely re-worked anthem of power and excitement.

Its Yon Yonson’s first release after partnering with TEEF Recordings, and the new found friendship isn’t anything less than spectacular as ‘Berlin’ is released in celebration of their fourth full length record ‘Yes No Sorry’. Compiled of seventeen versatile tracks, its set to be released February next year, so strap yourselves in and get ready for a wild ride.
