Live Review: Roland Tings takes you on a euphoric journey with 'Closed Eyes'

Melbourne producer Roland Tings has a pretty extensive list of accomplishments under his belt so far, just wrapping up a 25-date US/Canadian tour supporting acclaimed producer Chrome Sparks, touring with RÜFÜS on a North American tour and all before he returns back on our shores in time for Beyond The Valley and Laneway Festival.

Creating his early sounds from the walls of his bedroom, the Aussie talent has developed an array of progressive house sounds, filled with funky futuristic samples and boisterous beats. Following up his debut EP, Milky Way, and the success of his 2015 single ‘Devotion’, Roland Tings has gracefully returned to our airwaves with a fresh and refined new track, 'Eyes Closed’.

The new track continues his exceptional talent for overlapping eccentric sounds, with ‘Eyes Closed’ showcasing his ear for weaving synth claps and transitional samples of modern electronica. It’s an airy house rendition, one that he describes as a sense of awakening. “I wanted to make something that captured the beauty of the coastal landscape in winter. The way the trees on the windward side of the headland grow with twisted branches, braced against the southerly storms. I wanted to make something that sounded like total release, coming out a dark place into something filled with light,” he said of the track.

And that’s exactly what he did, his vision of beauty and inner release shining through in the alluring echoes of his ultramodern production style. As you fully grasp the beauty of the track with its blissful flutes and its lightly built sample repetition, you’ll be able to appreciate the little things around you and the appreciation for beauty this young lad has perfectly distributed throughout the track.
