Live Review: 'Chill Out' with Ray BLK and SG Lewis

27 November 2016 | 8:00 am | Natalie Turner

RAY BLK and SG Lewis have your back in their latest track 'Chill Out' plucked off BLK's latest mini album 'DURT'.

Who doesn't love a dynamic collaborative duo to chill your weekday out? Well, RAY BLK and SG Lewis have your back in BLK's latest track 'Chill Out'. The track comes from her latest release, a mini album entitled DURT, which holds stacks of tracks with 10/10 features including your boy Stormzy and Wretch 32.

BLK's soothing RnB sound should quickly become a staple on your playlist, particularly after the success of her breakthrough single '50/50' which showcased her sweet as pie vocals and swiftly revitalised the love we all share for 90's RnB. Now, teaming up with fellow Londoner SG Lewis, the pair have joined forces to flow some soothing electronic into BLK's old school soul sound.

The track is filled with subtle vibrating synth claps and echoes of light, spiralling samples, easily distinguishing Lewis' production style. The London lad has made sure the electronic back-beat hasn't over power BLK's vocals, delicately infusing his production in between pauses. It gives the track a spacious feel; an abstract production technique that leaves room for a little interpretation.

But who has the capacity to overpower BLK's vocals anyway? Her high pitched strength in the chorus is levelled with her slow paced bridges linking the track into one smooth ride of RnB goodness. Her vocals become even more peaceful when placed against SG Lewis' gentle infusion of beats and leaves you praying for more of this collaboration from the gods. 'Chill Out' and give the track a listen.
