Iris Gold delivers funky 70s soul driven tune 'Ten' taken off of her upcoming release 'The Marsha hunt Mixtape' released in December

UK songstress, IRIS GOLD unveils her latest soulful tune 'Ten.' Taken from her upcoming release The Marsha Hunt Mixtape. Iris Gold has developed a unique alternate sound. A nostalgic brand of pop, infused with modern elements of hip hop and a touch of blues. Her latest mixtape is an homage to her early inspiration, actress Marsha Hunt, oozing with the spirit and soul of the 70s.

Iris Gold’s has a strong track record. Her previous releases ‘Freakaholic' (produced by MNEK), ‘Steve McQueen’, ‘Colour Trip’ and ‘Goldmine’ caught the attention of taste makers Zane Lowe on Beats 1, and Huw Stephens on BBC Radio 1. 'Ten' is a colourful track that melds together a full brass section, sassy lyricism, a some seriously funky PRINCE-esque bass slapping.

Fantasy is a core elements that underpin Iris Gold's work, “I imagined I was in a movie based in 70s Harlem during the hot summer chillin’ with with Lalo Schifrin,” she says. Iris Gold has clear direction with her composition style, every element just works. “When I started writing I wanted to write pop songs over loops and break beats, so the songs for the mixtape were mainly written in my friend’s Tomasso’s room in Hackney Wick in this way” Gold said. A combination of catchy pop hooks, a simple baseline tightly woven together by a trumpet spree.

Iris Gold enlisted some producer friends to help put the finishing touches on her mixtape, including THE CONFECT (NICK BREWER, TIGGS DA AUTHOR), DIMITRI TIKOVOI (PLACEBO, CHARLIE XCX) and BEN JOICE (JORJA SMITH).

The first track ‘Revolution Riders’ will be included in a brand new 4 track EP to be released in Jan 2017. Iris Gold will also feature on RUSS CHIME'S single ‘Drift,’ out this month.
