Live Review: Feki kicks things up a notch with his remix of Golden Vessel’s ‘Vines’

Brissy producer Feki has dropped a stunning, club-ready future-bass remix of Golden Vessel's new single, 'Vines (feat. Woodes)'.

Golden Vessel’s new single ‘Vines’ is the latest track to receive the remix treatment from Brisbane producer FEKI, and it’s a doozy. Staying true to the original’s atmospheric base layer and glorious vocals courtesy of Woodes, this update brings the vibe onto a whole new plain with wobbly future-bass drops and neat, flickering drum lines.

Taken from Golden Vessel’s debut EP Before Sleep, ‘Vines’ features a strong, spacious platform for the seductive vocals of Melbourne singer and producer, Woodes. With a slow, measured buildup and fuzzy synths, it pulls you into a gentle climax that’ll leave you glowing.

Feki doesn’t let this feeling slip away in his remix, maintaining the chilled, atmospheric presence of the original along with Woodes’ gentle vocals. That being said, it wouldn’t be a Feki cut without taking that vibe and building it up into a thoroughly danceable, club-ready banger.

Subdued, somewhat muted synths take a back seat to crisp drum work, with the track hanging back under the lyrics before a huge, wobbly drop reminiscent of the style of some of Flume’s recent work. What sets this track apart are the gaps of total silence where Feki whips the track right out from under you before sucking you back in again.

It’s a track that’s both unobtrusive with respect to the key features of the original, yet markedly different in its waffly synth and bass work, and one many DJs will no doubt be spinning on the regular.
