Brand new, lush, late-night dance music is here courtesy of Clubfeet. Their new single 'Canyons' is the second taste of forthcoming EP, Deep Thoughts

Melbourne four-piece CLUBFEET returned to the fold this week with ‘Canyons,’ the second cut from their new EP Deep Thoughts. It’s been a few years since their previous release, 2013’s Heirs and Graces, but with the EP’s first single, ‘We Are Affected’ also turning heads, the rest of Deep Thoughts is hotly anticipated.

Clubfeet’s new record is intended as a move back to a deeper club sound and as “a love letter to late night party times,” and ‘Canyons’ hits the nail right on the head. It opens big, with some serious groove in the bass line, shored up with tight house drums. Pitched up vocals in the chorus and guitar licks throughout make for a thoroughly layered tune, built around the dreamy voice of Sebastian Cohen. Sweet synth work tucks in beautifully underneath all of this, and some killer arpeggiator lines keep the club vibes flowing as things progress.

Working with co-producer Beni Single (Onelove) & mixer Eric J (Flight Facilities, Chet Faker), Clubfeet put this one together on the road while touring their sophomore record, taking them away from the studio-centric sound that featured in their earlier catalogue. Finalised in the Brunswick studio of band member Bennington Le Bruce, Canyons’ is minimalist in each element but cohesive and full as a whole. Equally at home late at night in the club or stretched out on the sand as Summer comes rolling in, Clubfeet have got you covered in every setting.
