Live Review: ASTA & Yeo team up on new funk-filled track 'Shine'

20 November 2016 | 10:18 am | Natalie Turner

Young talent ASTA has progressed her sound into a funk-filled extravaganza on her latest track ‘Shine’ ft. Yeo.

The talented singer song-writer ASTA has had a banner year this year, and come a long way since she took out Unearthed High in 2012. Her previous track featuring ‘You Always Know The DJ’ star Allday became an overnight success, and now she's progressed her sound into a funk-filled extravaganza on her latest single, ‘Shine’.

The track is a collaborative effort with eccentric Melbourne artist Yeo, and with his modern electronic flair contrasted against ASTA’s pop infused sound makes for a match made in heaven.

‘Shine’ came to life as the pair spent time in Yeo’s shed, pushing past the 5 degree temperature, creating three glorious new tracks. “He's got this little shed in the backyard with no door, so we just worked in there for a few days. It was such a magical experience - I can't believe the amount of songs we came up with, It was minus 5 degrees for a few days. We were literally wrapped in rugs the whole time - it was so cold.”

‘Shine’ showcases both artists originality as it begins with slow piano and background claps that literally ‘shine’ through like warm beams of sunlight on your skin. Is a super cheerful track with it’s groovy compilation of low bass guitar and light piano-percussion in the chorus. You can hear Yeo’s funky AF production style as ASTA’s vocals perfectly weave throughout the foot-tapping bed of beats.

The track comes as a sneak peak from ASTA’s debut EP, which is set to be released early next year and by the sounds of ‘Shine’ we’re surely in for a treat! So brighten up your day and have a listen!
