Live Review: Jack River explores suburbia in her new clip for 'Palo Alto'

It's finally arrived! Jack River has released her stunning EP of chilled out tunes, Highway Songs #2, ready to be pumped on a hazy Sunday afternoon. The NSW native oozes with 90's vibes and you can imagine yourself skating next to her down Venice Beach in California, as her melodies infect your ears.

The first track on her EP, 'Palo Alto', basically sums up life in a colourfully energised haze. The gritty sound of the track takes you back to your moodiest of days, but also feels cathartic as it speaks to you in a way you didn't expect it to. Somehow, Jack River knows what we're thinking and has presented it in song form.

The new clip for 'Palo Alto' is the perfect accompaniment for the unique track. Filmed out the back of a 1985 Ford Bronco, the clip takes you through suburbia through the eyes of a youth of the time. Jack River herself explained that "From the minute the song began to come together, in my mind I saw hazed out afternoon light and everyday suburbia out the window," so when she filmed 'Palo Alto', she took us on a journey through her mind whilst she listened to the track.

'Palo Alto' seems to convey a world that has been long forgotten but still has a hidden spark. It's very alluring and when you watch the footage, you just want to be there, basking in the sun whilst Jack River serenades you down the coastline.
