Curves are a flashback from the future, with their lead single and video ‘Perfumery’ from their debut EP All Made Up out on November 9th on Enhancer Records

CURVES are a flashback from the future, with their lead single and video ‘Perfumery’ from their debut EP, All Made Up. ‘Perfumery’ is a well-balanced mix of 80’s new romanticism and schmick synth-pop.

Curves are a Melbourne-based band releasing their EP, both digitally and as a limited edition glitter-infused clear cassette, coupled with lyrics and a scented download card. Curves are obviously here for the pageantry, and from their music video – you can trust that they will deliver.

The music video for ‘Perfumery’ is playfully creepy. In a dark motel room bathed in red and blue lights, a melancholic mannequin-headed man waits for his mannequin-headed lover. It may sound off-kilter and almost unsettling but Curves refreshing take on 80’s synth pop works it all together into a cinematic experience. Expertly layered synthetic drum patterns, harmonising guitar lines and bright synthesiser chord progressions provide the perfect score to the video which was written and directed by Patrick Mooney, a member of the band.

All Made Up is the first release of a new label Enhancer Records. David De Thomasis of Paradise Music Festival and Hayden Quinn of Null have joined forces to create the Melbourne-based label, focusing on abstract, lof-fi and experimental musical genres. With Curves providing their excellent first release, it’s safe to say that Enhancer is going to be one label to watch.
