Live Review: Jack Grace Presents Music For "Waiting" To

12 October 2016 | 6:01 pm | Lauren Payne

Jack Grace has a cool sound that makes us all feel content and relaxed.

Jack Grace has a cool sound that makes us all feel content and relaxed. His latest track 'All Lost' expresses that extremely well because when listening, you feel calm and just get lost in its airy synths and strong pianos.

Since he's obviously a master at his craft, we asked Jack Grace to share some of his favourite tracks with us which he simply entitled 'Music For "Waiting" To'. The list he chose couldn't be more perfect, so excuse us as we drift off into our own peaceful state listening to these musical gems with you.

Christopher Port 'Go Start'

"I spend a lot of time with Chris and listening to this track again made me go 'shit I can't believe I get to hang out with Chris!' He knows where the energy lies in a loop, a chord a vocal etc and he exploits that in an almost  brash way- it's fucking cheeky and makes me want to dance."

Mark Pritchard 'Lord Of Lords'

"I had forgotten about this track until I heard him play it in his set before James Blake at the Horden.  Mark Pritchard has introduced me to so many genres, it's shocking how fluent he is across them all whilst maintaining something that is innately 'Mark Pritchard' For some reason I am always a bit surprised when I see him occasionally at this Thai joint in the city, I think I often forget that he lives in Sydney and I get a bit star struck. "

Cassius Select 'Jao'

"Whatever the moniker is he is choosing, Lavurn is the guy - watching a Guerre set at Good-God about 5 years ago was confronting and made me question a lot of things, he paces everything so perfectly and it always sounds so good - The piano is such a pay off in this one."

BUOY 'Exit'

"This is me repping something I worked on which is lame.. but more to the point… what about BUOY"

Nearly Oratorio 'Occlude'

"Simon Lam - 1. is an incredible musician/artist  2. a nice guy.  3. consumed more coffee than anyone at splendour this year. I hope he releases more Nearly stuff, or actually I don't mind what he releases cause I know he’ll release more music and whatever the project is it will be on point. "

Jacques Greene 'You Can't Deny'

"You can't not put this track in a list."

Overmono 'Lockner Union'

"This is a collab project from Truss and Tessela that is out on XL- it's got this euphoric energy, I'm really enjoying stuff that's uplifting at the moment (probably bit of an antidote after making my EP) and this really does it for me...  also that restart at the end is so good."
