From their new album Ψ, patten has put out a video for their track 'Epsilon'.

Shot, edited and rendered in software normally used to create cut scenes for video games, the video for 'Epsilon' is a fitting addition for the already cerebral electronic track.  The visuals add to the chaos of the music and all the glitches within it, by translating the noises into visual noise that disrupts the footage to create something visually dynamic and fitting.

Director Werkflow said a few things about the video:

'In creating the Epsilon video, we wanted A's vocal performance to drive the main narrative. The lyrics are delicate and full of longing which particulate under the hard futurism of the track. The idea was to represent granular and glassy sounds with light playing upon something ominous and mechanical. We wanted to create a setting that was disquieting - something clunky and transient that would feel hostile with little human presence. A sleeper train felt like the right environment in which to frame this narrative of introspection.

We wanted the scene to allow space for the audience to create their own narrative. To this effect the source of the destruction that plays out over the course of the video, remains ambiguous.'

Patten brings a very futuristic sound to their music with vocals that are heavily modulated and complex synths that take up most of the musical space. 'Epsilon' has lots of little detail behind it which elevates the quality of it's listening experience.
