Live Review: Creep into the night with STATUE's percussive Guest Mix

27 September 2016 | 9:06 am | Hannah Galvin

Tom Gould of World's End Press and No Zu has provided us with a heavy Guest Mix under his solo project, STATUE. It's big, and a goody at that.

It's such a treat to come across an artist who truly grabs you with their music. Someone so clearly passionate about the work they're moulding; allowing their music to pave its own way whilst simultaneously maintaining a clear direction for its journey. Such is the case for Melbourne musician, STATUE.

Formerly of [the since defunct] World's End Press, and drummer of the hot funk that is No Zu, you can already begin to expect the animated, high energy that STATUE emits. Heavy on the beats and a clear percussion enthusiast, Tom Gould - the man behind it all, released his debut EP, BUILT at the tail-end of 2015. Full of whacky, spongey samples, tense beats and animalistic vocal cuts, he's just about ready to reveal the follow-up EP, MONUMENT, again through Cutters Records this November.

Super keen for its release, STATUE has gifted us with a dense percussive haven in the form of our weekly Guest Mix. Bleeding renditions and edits, take it with you, through to the wee hours of an exhaustive weekend morning.
