Astrid S Reveals Her Top 5 Musicians Under 25

Europe is crawling with amazing musical talent but it seems like Scandinavia is leading the charge. With artists like Lido and MØ emerging out of the cluster of countries and dominating the world stage, there's bound to be more hidden gems that we have yet to discover.

Astrid S is a songwriter from Norway and she seems to be one of the gems we've been searching for. Her melodies are fresh and her lyrics are sharp and she just knows how to roll together a pop track oozing with colourful electronica.

Astrid S has worked with Lido before and is currently on tour across Europe, sharing her amazing tracks. We decided to ask Astrid S about her favourite artists so we could grab a helping hand to find musicians who share her love of smooth electronic pop. Funnily enough, the artists she chose are all Scandinavian too.

Aurora

"She’s also from Norway and is the same age as me, has the same hair colour as me, the same eye colour as me (laughs)….We both do electropop music and I’m a huge fan of hers.  I think a lot of people may have heard about her by now but you should definitely check her out if you haven’t already."

LEON

"Then there’s this Swedish girl called LEON and she does this really nice soul-inspired pop music. She has an amazing song called ‘Tired Of Talking’ which people should listen to."

DAGNY

"Another girl from Norway who I’m also obsessed with is DAGNY. I just love her song Backbeat - It’s so good and she just released an EP called ‘Ultraviolet’, so people should check that out!"

Julie Burgen

"This girl is actually my best friend, I live with her in Oslo and her name is Julie Burgen. She has very very “poppy” sound with drops and really nice electronic production. Obviously, I’m a huge fan of hers as she’s my best friend but I think she’s going to kick my ass at some point – just rise and go really far."

dePresno

"One more…..Not sure whether I should stick with the girls or bring in one boy…..I’m going to include a boy. He’s called dePresno and he is kind of like an indie artist with a jazzy pop meets electronic pop sound. I’m a fan of electronic-tinged pop as you can probably tell. He has a song called ‘Hide & Seek’ which I have been listening to quite a lot lately."
