Live Review: REMI hits another home run with Jordan Rakei in the powerful 'Lose Sleep'

Remi is back again with 'Lose Sleep' featuring Jordan Rakei a track that has smooth production and a great message behind it.

Remi is back again with 'Lose Sleep', featuring Jordan Rakei - an excellent new tune with an even better message behind it.

With smooth guitar and glowing keys, Remi raps about growing up and the struggles that came with his life just because of his skin colour. From interactions with the police and racial profiling, to not being understood by his friends, to the times he realised that the world "is darker than it seems". Teaming up with the exceptional Jordan Rakei for an absolute stand out hook that further brings the message home, 'Lose Sleep' is an emotional and loaded song that more than deserves your attention. It NEEDS to be heard.

Remi has never been one to shy away from saying what he believes and making a message with his music, and this follows on from a slew of singles including the Baro collaboration, 'Fuck The Judge' which was released after two men of colour were shot by police within 48 hours in the US. 'Lose Sleep' is no exception as it deals with racism in Australia, bringing the message home. Remi manages to recall events and put them into his lyrics, creating this vibrant narrative that draws you in.

Remi’s words on 'Lose Sleep' below:

“Since our last record, a lot of young mixed race Aussie kids have come to me talking about how much they can relate to the racial struggle in our music. I don’t think that’s a good thing, but I’m proud that these kids feel a little less alone, because of some songs we didn’t think anyone would hear. It also became inspiration for me to continue opening up about my experience. Often you can feel like one crazy beige kid in a sea of ignorance shouting about equality. These kids helped change that for me."

Remi has also his new album coming up Divas and Demons, out September 16th. To celebrate the release of that, he's also announced a new national tour. Check out the dates below and pre-order Divas and Demons HERE.
