American synthpop band PORCHES have released another excellent track from their album, Pool. ‘Car’ comes not only with a reminder that no matter how old or crappy, love your car, and a tropical vibing video that may be a little bittersweet for many an Aussie right now.

The video is an avant-garde piece of work that provides the perfect backdrop to the sounds of the song. ‘Car’ gives off that old school synth vibe, something you would think of for long summer road trips.

Directed by Daniel Brereton, and co-produced by Urban Outfitters for their UO Music Video Series, the whole video has this rather surreal vibe. Everything is in sync, and everyone looks and acts like an expressionless robot, fitting in with the lyrics “oh what a machine”. The whole thing has that kind of old school 2D vibe, but given the background lighting of red and blue, you feel like it could almost be turned into something 3D at any moment.

Overall, this video has been about creating a space Porches would like to perform in, and according to Daniel Brereton, while the good old performance video has been done to death, if you are clever enough there is always a way to find a new angle. You can head on over to the Urban Outfitters blog for some behind the scenes snaps.
