Live Review: Lastlings bring euphoric gold with new single 'You'

20 June 2016 | 1:18 pm | Cailey Moroney

Following their stunning performance at our Tenth Birthday celebrations this weekend) LASTLINGS are back with their latest offering 'You'.

Following up with their first release since their debut EP, Unreality, (not to mention their stunning performance at our Tenth Birthday celebrations this weekend) LASTLINGS are back with their latest offering 'You' and, if a new track weren't enough, it comes along with a video straight off the bat.

With 'You' Lastlings, as ever, continue to be quite revolutionary, with Joshua Dowdle utilising guitar techniques one would more expect to find in a heavy metal song than a soft electronic ballad and Amy Dowdle's vocals (yes, they're brother and sister, where have you been?) intertwining beautifully with the soaring pad sounds that make the song so dynamic.

Much like in Unreality which featured tracks titled in Japanese (eg. 'IRIGUCHI'), the video for 'You' features elements of Japanese culture and was, in fact, filmed entirely in Tokyo, Japan. Although it might seem unexpected, given the well known bustle of Tokyo and the bright lights and colour that have become symbolic of the Westernised view of the city, the video is quite minimalist.
