Melbourne’s PIKELET probably doesn’t need much introduction to a lot of locals, but if you don’t know her commit her to memory.

Melbourne’s PIKELET probably doesn’t need much introduction to a lot of locals, but if you don’t know her commit her to memory.

In the lead up to her official tape (yes, tape, as in cassette, as in the 90’s as in awesome) launch of Tronc later this week, here is the video she dropped for the track ‘The Neighbours Grass’.

Pikelet is Evelyn Morris (and some other musical band members who have changed a bit over the years) and just last week thousands of dollars worth of music gear was stolen out of her locked car and this is just not on. Regardless a musical genius soldiers on, and with the help of crowdfunding, she will be launching her Tronc later this week, and able to head off to Europe to record some more amazing things.

Her last EP was released in 2013, after lying dormant for a while Pikelet is back with what she describes as ‘weirder pop than ever before’. There really isn’t any better words to describe it, it’s one of those things that you really have to hear for yourself. It’s got some amazing synth things happening, with layers of bizarre sounds and vocals blended together.

The video is created by Ece Yavuz, and it features Morris’ 3D head floating around the screen in a glitchy kind of horror like way. The song itself is about gender dysphoria, and it would seem the video is the perfect way to portray the many layers of it.

The cassette version of Tronc is being launched Friday May 21st at Hugs & Kisses. The digital version is out now through Chapter Music.

Although the crowd funding campaign has reached its goal and Evelyn has been able to replace the gear needed for Friday’s launch, you can still donate on GoFundMe
